The flexibility of steel, its tensile properties, and its solidity, made possible the reinterpretation of the chair with the elimination of the back legs. In the 1920s, this idea was retrieved many times. Mies van der Rohe presented the first “cantilever” in 1927 at the exhibition of the Deutsche Werkbund, which he organized in the Weissenhof quarter of Stuttgart. There is an ulterior adaptation, carried out between 1928 and 1930 for Villa Tugendhat in Brno (Czech Republic).
It seems that in the villa’s breakfast room there were two dozen of them. Even in the “Brno”, it’s easy to recognize one of the central themes in Mies van der Rohe’s ideas on architecture and furniture design (two closely interwoven concepts): the search for fundamental and primary elements, and the process of eliminating the superfluous, of purification, which was summarized with the famous “less is more”.

We aim to keep our delivery charges as competitive as possible. Delivery will be made as soon as possible after your order is ready, depending on the product's lead time. Please note that delivery times are only estimates, and longer delays may occur. Delivery is to curbside only and usually delivered on a wood pallet, without any assistance provided by the courier to unload, unbox or take goods inside your property as they are not insured to enter properties. They will leave the goods on the doorstep or at the nearest accessible place to an entrance door, into a garage, or drive. Pallet freight companies do not provide window times or tracking service like smaller item couriers.
RETURNS
All goods returned must be in an unused, perfect and saleable condition with the original product packaging. If the goods do not reach us in this condition, then your right to a full refund may be affected. Goods that have been specially made to order in a specific finish, colour or fabric, as per the customer’s specifications, cannot be returned.
